Win-Win: Swift and Successful Claims Resolution

Here is a brief example of how we showcased one of our agency partners in a recent newsletter and with their client:

ICW Group's Claims Team was recently involved in a case whereby a policyholder had to lay off some of its employees. One of those employees impacted by the layoff filed a workers' compensation claim after they were terminated claiming they had previously fallen at work and sustained orthopedic and psychiatric injuries.

The ICW Group Claims Specialist conducted a thorough investigation showing that the employee did not report any injury nor seek treatment while he was employed at the company. In fact, he only sought treatment after the layoff. Therefore, based on the investigation the claim was denied.

The injured employee retained the services of an attorney to fight the status of the claim, contending that the injuries and self-procured extensive treatment were compensable. However, because our Claims Team had diligently prepared the case and presented key witness testimony, the judge found that the worker was not entitled to any benefits. If the claim had been accepted, it would have incurred up to $75,000 in medical and indemnity costs.

The Claims Specialist immediately contacted the policyholder's agent, informing him of the successful ruling so he could contact his client to share the great news!
