ICW Group Holds Risk Management Leadership Symposiums for Workers’ Compensation Policyholders

Business Leaders Learn Best Practices that Result in Safe Workplaces

SAN DIEGO, May 6, 2022 – To arm business leaders with the tools they need to build a culture of safety within their organizations, ICW Group Insurance Companies, a leading group of property and casualty carriers, recently held a series of risk management leadership symposiums for its workers’ compensation customers.

The symposiums, held in Northern and Southern California, were led by ICW Group’s risk management experts. Topics discussed included the vital role management plays in the safety of all employees and the tools business leaders and safety managers can use to identify, plan for, and mitigate risk in their workplace.

“Safety is about coming home every evening and embracing your family and friends,” said Rick Fineman, VP, Risk Management, ICW Group and symposium presenter. “Helping workplaces understand this significance and equipping them with the tools they need to keep their workforce safe is why we’re here.”

Discussions highlighted the importance of setting expectations and safety protocols with employees on day one and adapting to individual learning styles to be effective. According to presenter and ICW Group Risk Management Manager, Jason Rozar, managers play a significant role in maintaining a safe work environment.

“A culture of safety starts at the top,” said Rozar during his session titled Risk Management for Managers. “Managers are responsible for the safety and health of their teams, making risk management a vital part of every manager’s job, at every organizational level.”

The symposium also helped policyholders identify steps to formally evaluate their workplace risks. According to presenters, not all risk can be eliminated, but they can be planned for. Policyholders are encouraged to evaluate each risk individually and develop a measurable plan to address those risks.
