A San Diego man has pled guilty to felony insurance fraud charges surrounding his attempt to defraud the workers’ compensation system.
As featured in a previous story, Plumber’s Story Has A Lot Of Leaks, a 28-year-old plumber claimed to injure his back on the job. Although diagnostic testing found no clear cause for his injury, this individual complained of ongoing pain and discomfort.
ICW Group’s Special Investigations Unit launched investigative surveillance on behalf of our policyholder and found this individual engaging in multiple physical activities, including lifting and pulling a trailer loaded with an ATV along with an undisclosed second job.
The fraud team referred the matter to law enforcement. The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges, which resulted in a guilty plea. ICW Group is currently pursuing recovery of monies paid due to this individual’s brazen attempt to steal from the system.
